Here’s a scary story that could have turned out much worse. Jennifer Lopez, Leah Remini and their kids, Lopez’s six year-old twins Max and Emme and Remini’s daughter Sofia, 10, spent the day together on Saturday. Lopez and Remini are both from the Bronx and have been best friends for years. They were headed home from the Demi Lovato concert at LA’s Staples Center when they were rear ended by a drunk driver in a pickup truck who fled the scene. Cops caught up to the guy, charged him with a DUI and arrested him. Thank goodness Lopez, Remini, and their kids were all ok. Here’s more, thanks to E! Online:

Jennifer Lopez, her 6-year-old twins and BFF Leah Remini were recently involved in a car crash caused by a suspected drunk driver and thankfully, emerged unharmed.

On Saturday around 8 p.m., the latter star was driving J.Lo’s new SUV on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California while the singer sat in the passenger’s seat and her son and daughter, Max and Emme, sat in the back. The vehicle was rear-ended by a man driving a small pickup truck, police told E! News, adding that no one in Lopez’s car was injured.

The group and the male driver got out of their cars and as they started to exchange information, the man then returned to his truck and sped off. A police officer pulled him over a short distance away and arrested him on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving under the influence. He has not been identified and has not commented.

Shortly before the crash, Lopez shared on her Instagram page a photo of herself and Remini sitting in a vehicle and described the scary incident.

“Sitting at a light, riding high right before some drunk fool rear ended us in my new whip!!!” Lopez said. “Thank god everyone ok!!! #GRATEFUL #THANKYOUGOD #DontdrinkandDrive!!!! #cursedthatfoolout #theBronxcameout #dontmesswithmycocnuts #mamabear #leahstayedcalm #thatwasweird.”

There’s no word on what kind of car Lopez had but since it was an SUV and this is J.Lo we’re talking about I bet it was huge and built like a tank. That’s a good thing in this case as it must have protected her kids in the back seat.

Here’s a video that Lopez posted to Instagram of Max, 6, jamming out to Drake’s “0 to 100” in the back seat . Remini was driving so Lopez was able to take this video. It’s cute! E! points out that Remini posted a video from dinner with Lopez on Thursday night where she tried to get Lopez to sing “Booty” and she wasn’t having it.

Why am I not surprised that J.Lo has custom monogrammed seats? Look at Emme with her little minecraft pig.
